We have scheduled emergency network maintenance with our fiber vendor to test and repair a problem with a fiber span that connects 350 E Cermak Rd and 725 S Wells St in Chicago. Date: Saturday, August 22nd, 2015 Customer Impact: The fiber span provides redundant connectivity between 350 E Cermak Rd (chi01 & chi02) and 725 S Wells St (chi18) data centers. During the maintenance, the vendor will need to disconnect the fiber to test it, locate the damaged area, and repair the issue. The customer impact of this maintenance is expected to be minimal because there are redundant paths to all of the affected network components. During the maintenance, overall capacity between the two sites will be reduced and redundancy may be limited. At the initial interruption of the connection and at restoration, brief periods of packet loss or suboptimal routing may occur. The maintenance window is long due to vendor time requirements. While testing the fiber should be a quick process, additional time will be required to locate and repair damaged segments. If you need assistance during the maintenance, or if you have any questions about this planned work, please contact us via our helpdesk or by calling (312) 602-2689 or (888) 281-9449. | |
