We have scheduled network maintenance to migrate over to a new fiber span connecting 350 E Cermak Rd and 725 S Wells St in Chicago. The purpose of this change is to reduce the complexity of the route the fiber takes between our facilities, which will improve reliability and signal quality, and simplify troubleshooting. Date: Sunday, September 6th, 2015 Customer Impact: The fiber spans provide redundant connectivity between 350 E Cermak Rd (chi01 & chi02) and 725 S Wells St (chi18) data centers. During the maintenance, we will decommission one of the spans and reconnect the equipment via a new span. The other span in this ring, which was the subject of a repair on August 22nd, will not be modified. The customer impact of this maintenance is expected to be minimal because there are redundant paths to all of the affected network components. During the maintenance, overall capacity between the two sites will be reduced and redundancy may be limited. At the initial interruption of the connection and at restoration, brief periods of packet loss or suboptimal routing may occur. The actual migration steps that impact the network are expected to take 5 to 10 minutes to complete, but additional time has been allotted in case additional work or troubleshooting is required. Customers using DWDM cross connects over this span will be impacted. You will receive a separate notification if applicable. If you need assistance during the maintenance, or if you have any questions about this planned work, please contact us via our helpdesk or by calling (312) 602-2689 or (888) 281-9449. | |
