Update 5:01 AM: This maintenance was completed successfully. The internal access switches were successfully cut over to the new, redundant distribution switches.
We will be conducting maintenance on the internal network switches in our chi01/chi02, 350 E. Cermak, location. This maintenance will be the second phase of changes required to cut over to new, redundant, internal switches. This is a continuation of the maintenance on February 2nd, 2013.
Date: Saturday, February 9th 2013 Start Time: 1:00 AM CST (GMT-6) End Time: 8:00 AM CST (GMT-6)
Maintenance Scope: Replacement of the internal switch int-dist-1.chi02 with redundant Cisco 4900M switches. The switch int-dist01.chi02 currently handles the routing functionality for the internal 10.1.x.x/16 networks in the chi01 and chi02 facilities. Jumbo frames will also be enabled, on all compatible internal Vlans, as part of this maintenance.
Customer Impact: During the cut over to the new switches there will be intermittent loss of network connectivity for customers utilizing the internal private 10.1.x.x/16 network. Internal Network VPN access will also be impacted during this time.
During this maintenance, we will be replacing the internal switch that routes the internal, private Vlans and then we will migrate the Vlans to the new, redundant, internal switches. The maintenance is expected to take between 3 to 7 hours with intermittent periods of downtime during the maintenance window.
While we expect the customer impact to be minimal, unexpected issues may occur during the maintenance period.
